The Last Words Meme

This is it. The final curtain. You're at the end of your life, and there's someone here you really, really need to say something to before you die. 


(TRIGGER WARNING. This meme deals heavy with death and also possibly with strong violence or with suicide/depression. If you are not comfortable reading about that, please PLEASE do not proceed further.)



HOW IT WORKS:
Getting your numbers from RNG (or pick your own), the first character to post rolls for their cause of death and how long they have left to live. They then post to the meme with their name, canon and the results of their roll. (For example: "Jane Doe | That One Series | 1 2" would mean Jane Doe from That One Series died of accidental causes and has a few hours left to live.) 

Responding characters then roll for the relationship between the two of you. Optionally responding characters can also share your cause of death/time left to live or roll for their own, but that's not required. A living character caring for (or horribly mutilating) a dying one is fine, too.

Tell the person what you need to tell them before you bite it. 

As usual, all meme's are open to interpretation. If you want to play an AU immortal, yay. If you want to be sucked into another dimension or shoved into a tiny glass box, also fine. YOUR PLAY, NOT MINE.



CAUSE OF DEATH

1 - Accidental. Nobody meant for this to happen, but it doesn't matter now. Due to negligance, arrogance or just plain bad luck, you've become gravely ill or injured and are now in your last moments. This covers all kinds of accidental deaths--strangulation, drowning, car accidents, unintentional beheadings, whatever you can think of. 

2 - Murder. Somebody really didn't like you. Enough to kill you, it seems. You're now dead by someone else's hand. (Maybe even the person replying to you?) As with accidental death, this covers all types of intentional, malicious murder, regardless of method--so poisoning, stabbing, shooting, etc., all work here. Same with all the below options: any possible variation you can think of on it will work!

3 - Suicide. There is no hope for you, and no way out. You've reached the absolute bottom pits of despair, and the only recourse you have is to take your own life. Someone shows up to stop you... but they're too late to help you now.

4 - Terminal illness. You have cancer, or tuberculosis, or cholera back when people got cholera. The doctors have done everything they could and it wasn't enough. The only thing to do now is give your loved ones the bad news.

5 - Starvation. So thirsty. So hungry. Maybe you've been traveling in the desert for hours, or maybe you're just really poor. Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter, because you're slowly wasting away until you're nothing but skin and bones.

6 - Death in battle. You've died a hero's death, and gone out in a blaze of glory. Or maybe you were a coward who got shot for deserting? Either way, you're now a casualty of war. Will you be honored with a parade or scorned as a traitor to your country? 

7 - Natural causes. You've lived a long, happy life, and now your story is at an end. In a warm bed, surrounded by your family and friends, you peacefully drift off. Just make sure that you've made a will somewhere, or at least use your deathbed to set the record straight. Otherwise, who knows what kind of squabbles might errupt after you leave this world?


TIME LEFT

1 - A few minutes. You're fading fast and you don't have much, well, any time left. Better tell the person with you that you love -- or despise -- them with your last breath, because you'll never have the chance otherwise. 

2 - A few hours. You haven't got much time left. Is there someone you still need to kill? To kiss? Better do it quick. (Note: last kisses not recommended for people dying of highly contagious illnesses.)

3 - A few days. The doctors have given you the news, and it's not very good. You've only got a couple days left to live. You should start trying to make peace with people and saying your final goodbyes with the days you have left.

4 - A few weeks. Take that vacation you've always wanted to go on but never had the chance to. Go do that thing you've never thought you'd be any good at. You've got only weeks left to live. Don't waste them. 

5 - A few months. While you aren't quite on death's doorstep yet, your lifespan has still dwindled considerably from what you probably thought it would be. How are you going to spend your last few months on Earth? Making the world a better place and telling your family you love them? Or raising as much hell as possible?

[ He doesn't even hear him, staring down in thought at the sleeping infant in deep thought. ]

[ He glances at him in the rear view mirror, then back at the road. He must know by now. How could he not? Just look at her. ]

Yeah. She is.

[uncertainty]

[ He's only ever had one concupiscent partner. She's got Dave's eyes, his hair. He gently strokes his thumb down her cheek. ]

I didn't know.

[turntables]

Obviously, or you wouldn't have called me at one in the morning saying you were gonna die.

[uncertainty]

I could have.

[ her hair is so soft. ] You should have just, taken her.

[turntables]

What, you don't want her?

[ Please. ]

[uncertainty]

I won't be good for her.

[turntables]

There's nobody better. You're her mama, can't just turn away from it just 'cause you don't know how it do.

[ He didn't really know, either. Obviously still doesn't, with his track record. But it doesn't really matter. ]

[uncertainty]

[ She starts to fuss, wriggling in Tavros' arms. ]

I won't live long enough, to make a difference.

[turntables]

Ain't what you should be focusing on right now.

[ He glances back again at the fussing. ]

Talk to her.

[uncertainty]

[ Sitting quietly for a few minutes longer. The fussing gets louder before he finally speaks. ]

Hi, baby girl... Aren't you just, the spitting image of your papi..

[turntables]

[ Isn't she just. He'd like to be able to see those big freakish baby eyes boggling at the giant talky face in front of her, that's always a priceless look, the first couple of times the baby stares you down.

}8O ]

[uncertainty]

[ She quiets down again. Tavros lifts her up a little higher and remembers to support her head, shielding her from the chill. ]

You really, scared me honey. I didn't even know, you were coming.

[turntables]

[ She boggles at him and flails her tiny hands a little, casually drooling and just being a goddamn hot mess and Bro thinks she's basically perfect. He pulls into the driveway and has to resist needling for him to hand her back. ]

[uncertainty]

[ Tavros spends the rest of the time baby talking her sweetly, stroking her hair and kissing her forehead when he gets a little braver.

Once they're stopped he shifts to hold her out to Bro. ]

[turntables]

[ He takes her just in the sense of being a convenient extra pair of hands, pulling the chair out for Tavros to get into and helping him into it and then offering her back. ]

[uncertainty]

[ Had he the strength to wheel himself he might have refused. Instead he tucks her to his chest and hopes that she doesn't start crying and drawing attention. ]

[turntables]

[ He pushes Tavros inside and takes him to the newly revamped bedroom, then heads back out to bring the rest of his stuff in, pile by pile. ]

I'll make some calls and see if I can't get the baby stuff back from Mom. [ Dirk's baby stuff, as it were. And Dave's. And Rose's, and Roxy's, and her other two or twenty or however many kids she has now, too. ] In the meantime she gotta eat before her ass starves to death so I'm headin' back out.

[uncertainty]

Okay.

[ Once the piles flopped on the floor Tavros takes it over, holding her to his chest and laying down carefully. ]

[turntables]

[ to the grocery store!!!! He brings back not just enough formula to last half of forever, but a bottle and a binky and a shitton of diapers and a rattle with a puppy head and also a cute little onesie because they were there ok, and the kid can't just be a naked freak of nature all the time for crying out loud.

Over the course of the next few days he begins amassing an actual Fuckload of baby stuff in the way of furniture and clothes and toys and other crap that babies need. I mean she can't very well just go without little sockies and bibs and this fucking hat has holes for horns on it come on she actually NEEDS that stuff.

He knows. Don't question him. ]

[uncertainty]

[ he doesn't.

The baby goes unnamed but not unloved. Tavros awkwardly warms to the idea and lavishes attention on her.

A few hours after bro leaves, Tavros takes her into the living room and parks in front of the urn. ] Say hi to your Papi. Papi, say hello to your little girl.

[turntables]

[ She burbles incoherently at the urn, flapping her arms a little. It's wrong that the baby won't ever know her daddy, that her daddy never knew she was coming. He would have loved her, without a doubt. ]

[uncertainty]

[ He kisses the top of her head. ] You won't get to meet him, but, I'll tell you all about him when you're older... He was a hero, you know. And he was also, a good film maker, and rapper, but you're too young to see those..

[turntables]

[ grrgle. She's distracted from staring all around by the kiss and looks up with bug eyes again. }8O

Pretend the awe is because of her daddy's accomplishments and not because her baby brain is still overloaded by Tavros' existence. ]

[uncertainty]

[ he doesn't know any better and presumes the former anyway. ]
